i hate feeling like i have to walk on eggshells when i talk to certain people. it gets really frustrating to have to edit what i say in my head before i say it out loud. i feel like my stress level increases 100% when i am dealing with these people. as you may guess this happened again today. a girl that i work with always takes everything i say wrong. i am currently helping her out on her program. so i needed clarification on what she needed me to work on. somehow this turns into a heated discussion on the different methods that we each use to do this work. i don't see this as a problem but apparently she does. truth is that i am doing it the correct way. but i could never tell her that.

basically what is happening is that i am trying to create some drawings for her. there are 2 different ways to bring in the assembly that we need to use in order to create a drawing. you can either load it as "latest revision" which will find the latest revisions of all the models that are in your assembly, or you can load it as "standard load" which loads the models at the last revision that the assembly was saved at. the biggest difference is that with the standard load, there can be newer revisions of some of the models out there and you don't know it.

i always use "latest revision" to make sure that i am using the latest ones out there. in this particular case, 5 of the models showed me to have newer revisions out there that it then loaded for me. the system tells you when it brings in a newer revision of a model. my coworker always uses standard load since her models are used by many other engineers. her reasoning is that if she uses latest revision then she may get some parts replaced that she doesn't want to go to the next revision. my argument is that then those parts should be named something else so that they don't get confused with the current parts.

the thing is that with my programs, all the assemblies have the latest revisions of the different models. so if i use either method of loading assemblies i will get the same parts on the screen. if anyone else goes in there and loads them with either method they will get the same parts in the assembly. there is no confusion this way. even though my coworker wants to use standard load, there will be other people who are using these assemblies, ie tool makers, manufacturing, etc., who will pull the assemblies up the other way and get the wrong parts. the parts have the possibility of being made wrong....which is what has happened on other programs. you'd think they would learn. oh well...in the end it was her call since it is her program.....so i did it her way on this program.
