i volunteered at the runaway hotline last night. it was the most frustrating experience i have had there since i started in january. i had quite a few hang ups. not a huge deal. then i had one call that was good except i couldn't help him much since he was 21. i was able to get him some phone numbers for shelters in that area. so that was good. then i proceeded to get 3 prank calls. the first time that he/she/it called, i recognized the voice from a call i received about a month ago. this call started out exactly the same as before. "she" wanted to tell me in explicit detail about a lesbian experience that "she" was "force" into. well a month ago, i pretty much had to take it as a real call. but during that call, i offered to help "her" find counceling or other help in her area. i also said that i could help her contact the police to file a report against the people who "force" "her". well the more help i offered to "her", the more she just kept telling me that she wanted to just tell me what happened. i finally told her that i couldn't help her. after i got off the phone, i found out from others that "she" calls a lot. so last night, i answered "her" call again. this time i knew the voice and the story which started out the same. i called "her" on it. "she" just kept saying that she just wanted to tell me just one more thing. i finally just told her that i had to take other calls and hung up. we started talking in the phone room about it. turns out that "she" has a knickname in the phone room. they think she is like the guy from Silence of the Lambs. not anthony hopkins, the creepy whispery bad guy that kidnapped the girl. that is a great description of what this guy (yes it is a guy) sounds like. turns out this creepy guy won't talk if a guy answers the phone. so all of a sudden the other guys in the phone room got hang up calls. then it was my turn again. guess who?? you got it. but this time he had a guy's voice. he knew that i would recognize the other voice right away. and he did fool me for about a minute. then he started using the same phrases again. this time the story was going to be about a gay encounter. we all knew that was where the story was headed. i stopped him and told him that there was another hotline that might be able to help him but he didn't want it. he just kept wanting to tell me one more thing. before he could really go far with the story, i cut him off and told him that we couldn't help him and then hung up. more hang ups for the guys then i had a heavy breather. it may not have been that same guy but it was just too much of a coinsidence. that night was so frustrating because even though i helped one person, i had to deal with that ass for most of my time.
