this past weekend was really nice. busy but not too much so. i went to bn's holiday party on friday night. it was a formal event. bn even wore a tux. he was looking very nice. i will try to add a link to a website that has a picture of us later. we had a really nice time. i met a lot of people that he works with. everyone kept asking if we were going to dance later. which of course we did. i love being able to dance at an event where others don't know how. you can just do basic 6-count and it looks impressive. we kind of surprised most people he works with because they didn't know he was dating anyone. his one friend was shocked that he didn't tell him. it was funny seeing people's responses when he introduced me as his girlfriend. i know that sounds like a high school type label but i don't mind it so much.

saturday i got some new fish. i know have 9 neons and 4 frogs to keep my algae eater company. i forgot how huge he was until i got these much smaller fish. i think the algae eater has already eaten one of the neons. i had 10 and now i can't find one. his mouth is so big that the neons can just get sucked in.

sunday bn and i went to see Urinetown. it was pretty funny even though the musical was all about people having to beg money to be able to pay to pee at public facilities. i did enjoy it.

yesterday we had our monthly department meeting. the big surprise is that my boss (russ) is getting promoted to his boss's position. so now i get my 5th boss in 5 years here at my company. i really hate this since every time this happens, i feel like i take a huge step backwards. just as i see the light at the end of the tunnel to my promotion, i get a new boss and have to prove myself all over again. it seems like every boss that i have had here has very different criteria which they determine your eligibility for promotion. so i'm back at square one again. the only minor advantage that i have this time is that russ will be my new boss's supervisor. the other annoying thing is that i think russ was doing a pretty bad job at the manager's position now he is promoted to director. i don't think he is qualified. he was just promoted to manager 2 years ago. and now he is a director.

the ironic part is that i have been told by russ that the reason i haven't been promoted yet is that they don't promote people to the next level until they have been doing that next level's job for a year. well that thinking didn't hold true for him. as you can tell i'm pretty fed up. i really need a new job. i guess i should start updating my resume. maybe i can finally find a job in the city. *crossing fingers*. so if anyone knows of a company hiring a program manager preferably in Chicago, let me know!
