from 80 degrees to -2 degrees....

Oh my gosh it’s cold outside. What makes it even harder to deal with is that I was in 80 degree weather last week. We were in Costa Rica for Jody’s wedding. We were able to go out 4 days before the rest of the group showed up and have a vacation of our own. We really needed it after the last few months. It was just what we needed to move forward. Overall we have been doing well. But this vacation did help.

Costa Rica is a beautiful place. The mountainous scenery was stunning. Our hotel was up on a cliff. I am so glad that we decided to pay the extra and upgrade to a villa. We basically had our own small one room house. We had a balcony that overlooked all this greenery and in the not so far distance was the Pacific Ocean. At night it was pitch black. You could actually see the stars. We would leave the curtains open at night so that in the morning we would see the gorgeous view. It was nice because we were facing the west so the sun didn’t come in and wake us up.

We went to the botanical gardens. It was very pretty but also very strenuous. Let’s just say that walking through gardens that are on a cliff is very hard to do. We did get to see some waterfalls and really cool birds though.

Another day, we went to Tortuga Island. We found out that the beach at our hotel kind of sucked and that the beach here was much better. They were so right. We had to take an hour and a half bus ride there. While on the bus ride, we stopped at a road side restaurant that had a great breakfast ready for us. Then on to the ferry. I was a little nervous about the ferry ride since I don’t always do so well with rocking boats. Luckily the water was very smooth. The island was wonderful. Very relaxing. We were able to swim in the ocean. The beach was a great white sand kind. We walked around too and saw a wild boar, a wild turkey, and a bunch of birds. The ride back was a little rockier but since I had been in the waves all day, it helped me with my sea legs.

The rest of the vacation was spent with the gang who were there for Jody and Jamie’s wedding. I’ll tell you about that later. Gotta go home now.
