Those crazy pets...
Funny funny animals. We are watching my sister’s dog Jake for a couple of days. To put it mildly, Oreo is not thrilled with the whole situation. To be honest, Jake could do without Oreo too. As soon as Jake walked in the door, Oreo stopped mid-stride to just stare at him. You could almost hear him thinking…”Oh Crap, It’s Him!!!” Oreo just turned and walked away. Overall it has been fine though. They tolerate each other and even lay near each other sometimes.
Last night, Jake slept on the floor at the foot of our bed. He was fine. In the mornings, apparently, he is used to getting up on the bed with my sister and her hubby. So when we woke up, we saw Jake staring at us. We called him up on the bed and he jumped right up. He curled up against me. I was basically spooning him. I was wedged between him and Ben. Jake put his head down and closed his eyes. Perfectly content.
Then along comes Oreo. He comes walking in the room just like he does most mornings. He stops at the door and stares at Jake. Of course Jake is oblivious to this since his eyes are closed and he is content. We try calling Oreo up on the bed. For a while he just sat there. Then he actually walks over and jumps up on the post we have next to the bed. It is there to help him get up on the bed. He stops to look at Jake again. Obviously debating how much he wants to be petted. I guess the need to be petted outweighed the dislike he has for the dog since he jumped up on the bed with us. At this point Jake notices that Oreo is there. He doesn’t care because he puts his head back down and closes his eyes. Oreo is just barely close enough for us to pet him. So we pet him and he seems ok. Then all of a sudden he lies down. He is about 1 inch from Jake. Jake still has no idea. We keep petting Oreo. Then he stretches and lies on his side. At this point Oreo is lying partly on Jake. Jake still doesn’t care.
So it ends up being Ben spooning me, me spooning the dog, and the dog spooning the cat. We stayed that way for about 5 minutes then Oreo decided he was done with his bonding time and wanted to eat.
So like I said…funny funny animals.
