So here is a funny thing…

We have heat/cold wars at my office. My cube mates and I are always cold. The cube of 4 next to us is always warm. So we are constantly adjusting the thermostat. Well…apparently maintenance could tell this…and locked down our thermostats. My area is right next to the thermostat and we came up with a thought. The reason it is so cold here is that the thermostat is located in an air dead zone. No air circulates in there. So the temperature is reading higher in there and the air keeps turning on. Well…we set up a fan to blow air onto the thermostat. This helped a little.

Then one of the guys in my group came up with a “Polish air conditioner” idea. He set a bucket of ice between the fan and the thermostat. So now the thermostat thought it was colder than it was. This worked great!!!

The funniest part was that at one point the heat kicked on. So we had to back it up a little and turn the fan down.

I guess this is what happens when you try to prevent engineers from changing things.
